Variable Wattage Laser Welder
This laser workstation has an integrated solid-state laser for deposition welding with wire. The machine has a footprint of less than 1.5m2. Lighter and more compact lasers with outputs up to 150W as well as vacuum extraction and a microscope are integrated. It has three linear axes and an optional rotational axis, allowing three processing types: manual welding and setup, guided welding with supplementary wire, and automatic NC welding without additional material. The average power of the lasers varies from 20W to 530W at a pulse power of up to 10kW. Wire diameters from 0.15mm to more than 1.0mm can be welded with the same laser at high-pulse frequencies.

Full Range of Head Rework
The VGS-20 Valve Guide and Seat Machine lets shops set up and run heads up to 48" long. The design delivers valve seat concentricity and optimal speeds eliminate chatter. The power head on the VGS-20 tilts 12° left and right for alignment to valve guide centerlines and seat centerlines, or tilts 90° to flat surfaces, while a head-holding fixture rotates and locks for drilling, tapping, boring, and other machine work. One machine handles complete head rework functions: installation of valve guide inserts; spot facing of valve guides and bosses; cutting of valve insert pockets; simultaneous multi-axis cutting of valve seats; drilling and tapping of threaded studs; removal of brake exhaust studs; and bronze guide liner installation and reaming.

Larger Grip in a Smaller Footprint
T
hree large Atling steady rests are available in several clamping ranges: the LZ90-360 from 90mm to 360mm; the LZ150-420 from 150mm to 420mm; and the LZ110-500 from 110mm to 500mm. They maintain the integrity of workpieces that bend or deflect under unstable cutting loads. They are designed to fit almost any CNC or conventional lathe. The steady rests deliver a large gripping force and fit in limited space conditions. They feature three roller levers, which arc toward the center of the workpiece at a 120° angle. This patented roller design reduces the size of the housing for a larger steady rest fitting into a smaller footprint.

Ceramic Ball Bearings Provide Insulation
MRC hybrid ceramic ball bearings combine traditional steel rings matched with non-conductive silicon nitride ceramic balls. They offer insulating properties to prevent electrical arcing and associated surface damage to raceways, remove noise, and prevent premature lubricant aging. They provide drop-in replacement solutions within existing design envelopes. Compared to all-steel bearings, these bearings are lighter, harder, and more durable. They can run at higher speeds and lower operating temperatures and exhibit wear resistance. They are 40 percent less dense than steel balls for reduced centrifugal force and friction, letting them run faster and cooler; harder than steel for enhanced wear resistance against hard particles, contaminants, and vibration; and highly inelastic for increased bearing stiffness and reduced deflection under load to promote reliable performance. Available with bore diameters from 30mm to 180mm. They can be customized.

Coolant for 'Dirty' Metals
A high-oil semi-synthetic micro-emulsion offers cooling, corrosion protection, and cleanliness with improved lubricity and sump life. Trim Microsol 685 is suitable for cutting aluminum, stainless, and tougher aluminum and magnesium alloys. It is useful when cutting "dirtier" metals like cast and gray irons. Trim Microsol is stable enough to stay together in a high-magnesium environment; also helps to extend tool life.

Increased Efficiency and High-Confidence Machining
Solid Carbide Thread Mills, with an internal coolant supply, reduces heat and friction and provides chip evacuation. The series features micro-grain carbide, and is TiCN-coated for longer tool life. The thread mills are engineered with multiple spiral flutes to eliminate chatter. A large cutter diameter with high profile correction ensures true-to-gauge threads, and an extended milling portion provides a 2×D length-of-cut. An enlarged flute space provides chip evacuation, and an endmill-type shank with clamping flat offers secure tool holding. The cutters produce threads for applications 1" and under in a range of soft and pre-hardened steels to 58 RC, stainless steels, aluminum, cast iron, titanium, inconel, and difficult-to-machine exotics. The program consists of 20 tool sizes in two styles, type GFI and EZFI. Type EZFI is for thread sizes #4, #6, and #8; type GFI is for thread sizes #10 to 1".

Milling for Cast Iron and Hardened Steel

Two PVD grades for a variety of milling products are available: MK2000 for cast iron and MH1000 for hardened steel. The grades are offered in face, square shoulder, and disc milling product families. MK2000 is for gray and nodular cast irons at low to medium-high cutting speeds using a small radial engagement. It also performs well in steel as well as in less stable machining environments such as long tool overhangs where thinner chips make chatter less likely. MH1000 is to be used for milling steels hardened to more than 50RC, and for finishing gray cast iron.

Drill is Small and Crazy
A small drill with geometries is available. Whether pilot to deep hole drills, from steel, aluminum, or stainless steel machining, the CrazyDrill tackles difficult materials or extreme cutting parameters. These high-performance drills are available in diameters from 0.4mm to 6mm in 0.5mm increments and lengths of 2×D to 15×D. Three types of drills are available: center drills, which come in diameters from 0.5mm to 6mm that center for the smallest drilling diameters starting at 0.1 mm while simultaneously performing a 90° or 120° chamfer; the short drill MiquDrill 200 that drills holes of approx. 2×D to 3×D; and the MiquDrill 210, designed for micromachining and available uncoated in diameters down to 0.1mm, coated from 0.3 mm. The short drill product line is offered in 0.01mm increments up to 1.5mm diameter, while the universal MiquDrill 210 product line is available in increments from 0.01mm to 3mm.

Large Capacity EDM
The Spirit 3 CNC die sinking EDM system handles workpieces up to 43"×30"×15". It features a design for thermal stability, and a manual-centering mode centering an electrode in an existing cavity, for mold repairs reducing CNC programming time. The integration of the C-axis adds capability for rotation, indexing, and complex erosion, while the inclusion of AgieBril technology within the spark generator provides finishes as fine as Ra 0.2µm in steel using copper electrodes. Start up and production can be within an hour of delivery and the flexible user interface reduces programming times to minutes instead of hours by simplifying complex job programming for multi-cavity, planetary, helical shape, deep rib, and four-axis erosion. The system also provides full erosion path contouring capabilities.

Clamp Series Improves Holding Power
The horizontal handle hold-down action clamps represent the next generation of manual toggle clamps. The style lets users save space without compromises in holding capacity or performance. The 2013, 2017, 2027, and 2037 series offer an average of twice the holding capacity of other models. A knob on the end of the open "U" bar of the new clamps prevents spindle slippage. The design provides increased hand clearance in the open position, improving ergonomics and safety by eliminating pinch points. They come with an ergonomic handle grip, two flanged washers, and spindle assembly. Straight base options are available. Maximum holding capacity of the clamps range from 295 lb to 1,680 lb, and the low pivot points featured on the horizontal handle provide for a perpendicular clamp force. The straight downward action helps to prevent movement of the workpiece in the fixture.
